Liewe ouers,
Ons het ‘n klomp “Jars of Hope” afgelewe by Kindersorg Stellenbosch.
Ons maak hierdie jaar weer spesiale handgemaakte kersgeskenke.
EFT betaal, gebruik asseblief Kersgeskenke + kind se naam as verwysing.
Gordel groot asseblief jul kinders vas wanneer julle ry.
Dear parents,
We have reached the end of a very busy third term. We can see that the children are tired and can do with a break. They have worked hard and deserve some time to just relax. The children have battled with their health since the lift of the Covid-19 restrictions. Their immune systems are not as strong as it used to be to fight off germs. We are ending the term with a visit from the Department of Health. The will be giving the children some Vitamin A drops, as well as de-worming chewable tablets.
At the end of the third term we don’t send out formal progress reports. The teachers will, however, make appointments with parents if they feel there is a need to. At the end of the fourth term, each child will receive a formal progress report again.
A big thank you to every household who made a contribution towards this year’s Mandela Day project. We were able to donate quite a few Jars of Hope to Stellenbosch Child Welfare. They were extremely thankful and assured us that the Jars of Hope will help a lot of families in need. Thank for all the snoods that were knitted and donated. The office ladies went to Jamestown’s informal settlement were we put a smile on a lot of children’s faces.
This was also the 1st time in what feels like ages that we were able to have a walk through art exhibition. The staff worked very hard to decorate each class. We are exceptionally proud of each teacher, class assistant and child. The art project that went along with the art exhibition was the song book. Each child decorated their own front page. Now you can sing all the songs we teach the children at school along with them. We hope you enjoyed the evening just as much as what we did.
The Casual day theme for 2022 was ”#IcelebrateSA” and our Kabouters went all out with their green and gold. We were able to gather R2000 for House Horizon. Thank you to every parent who bought a casual day sticker.
One of the highlights for this term is of course the concerts. This was very special for us as it was the 1st time in 3 years that we could do it like in the days before Covid. All praise goes to each and every teacher and class assistant for all their hard work to prepare the children for concert week. The stage and the children looked beautiful. We were so proud of everyone.
We are making our special handmade Christmas gifts again this year. The closing date for orders is today ( 30 September), but if anyone still wants to order something, you can communicate with the office. We just cannot assure that there will still be of everything in stock. We are aiming to hand out all orders by mid November. Please remember, if you pay the Christmas gifts via EFT, please use Christmas gifts and Child’s name as reference.
Parking area – Please be considerate of each other in the parking area. Please park in one parking bay as they are limited. We also ask that you please drive slowly when entering the parking area. The younger children tend to break free and take run for it, accidents happen so quickly. On another note of road safety, please buckle up your children.
We know it is sometimes hard when they are kicking and screaming but their safety comes first. Your co-operation in this regard is greatly appreciated.
We ask that parents and children don’t walk through the school unnecessarily. The outside doors must still be used when dropping off and picking up children. Now that warmer days are approaching, the “Vissie and Vlinder” Class’s parents can also use the outside doors. We request that children please be dropped at the class door and that parents please do not enter the classes. You are welcome to attend your child’s birthday party.
Sick Children / Children with fever of 37.5°C and higher must please be cared for at home. A child must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school.
We are currently busy planning for 2023. With that comes the class divisions. Quite a few parents have already asked to which class their child will be moving on to, but at this stage we don’t have any definite answers. There are a lot of contributing factors when it comes to dividing the children into the class that will suit them best. The class lists will be discussed with each teacher before telling the parents in the children’s December progress report to which class their child would be moving to. Between all the staff we have many years’ experience in working with children and we ask that you please trust us with making these decisions.
The fourth term kicks off on a high note with the theme: SPORT. Make a note in your diaries for Friday,
14 October. We are planning a little athletics at Paradyskloof park at 15h00 that afternoon if the weather permits it. Another nice theme coming is “Children of the world” The teachers are hard at work to think of creative ways to make activity time super fun for the children. Keep an eye out for all the weekly planning on the Kriyo app.
Father Christmas will be stopping by at Kabouterland a little later in the year. More information on that to follow.
There are a few friends who will be moving on to “big school” next year. Please make a note of the 2nd of December in your diary. On that day we will have a special “graduation” for those children. More information regarding this will follow at a later stage.
Kabouterland closes on 21 December @ 13h00 this year and we reopen on Tuesday, 10 January 2023 @ 07:00.
We hope you have a peaceful week after a very busy term!
Friendly regards,
Kabouter Office
