Psalm 121:1-2 – “I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Kabouterland was born out of love, faith, and a deep calling.

In 1990, I—Reana, also known as “Mamma of Kabouterland”—realised that I could not leave my two sons (3 years and 9 months old) in the available childcare options with peace of mind while I worked. Instead, I decided to stay at home and began lovingly caring for six other little children in our house in Die Boord.

Within three years, the small school grew to 70 children with 10 staff members. Eventually, the entire house was used to accommodate this growing need.

During this time, I had a dream—a God-given command to build a school. I saw the plot of land clearly in the dream and went looking for it... and found it—an open piece of ground next to a Trek Garage in Paradyskloof, which was still under development at the time.

After five years of praying, waiting, and working, I bought the plot from Engen in 1996, had it rezoned, and began building. The financial challenge was immense, but God provided. In 1997, Kabouterland opened its doors in the new building—a dream that became a reality.

Today, Kabouterland stands as a beacon of love and quality care with more than 40 dedicated staff members, and a mission to develop each child's unique potential—with love, play, structure, and faith as our foundation.
