Dear Parents,
The third term has reached its end and we are deeply grateful to be able to say that Kabouterland and all our children are doing well. Except for a few runny noses and bad coughs, we are all relatively healthy and active. We can see the kids are tired and are looking forward to the holidays. They have worked hard and deserve the rest.
In the third term, no formal report will be sent out. The class teacher will make an appointment with you if necessary. A full evaluation report will be sent out again at the end of the fourth term.
Many thanks to each and every family who contributed to our Mandela Day Project. In the end we were able to deliver 9 large food parcels to Childcare Stellenbosch. They were extremely grateful and said it will definitely help families in need.
With the 3rd Covid -19 wave in full swing in the Western Cape, we tackled our annual Art Exhibition in the same way as last year. The teachers and assistants worked very hard to decorate the school building with the children’s beautiful artwork. We are incredibly proud of each child’s work. The mouse pad, that went along with the art exhibition was a great hit. The children drew the most beautiful pictures which was printed on the mouse pad for mom, dad, granny, grandpa and other family members. Thank you so much for the support with this project.
Casual day’s theme this year was “Courage & Kindness”. The Kabouters and staff came to school dressed in their best “Prince & Princess” Clothes. We were able to raise R2000 for House Horizon.
One of our annual highlights is of course our school concert, but unfortunately for the second year in a row, we could not invite the parents to come and watch. Our teachers tried their best to still perform a cute concert and then sent the videos to the parents via the “Whatsapp” groups. The children looked beautiful and Sunél was also here to take photos. All concert photo order envelopes can be collected at the front door and must please be handed in at the office by Friday, 15 October. The correct amount of cash must please be inside the envelope.
Birthday Parties: We would just like to remind you again that birthday parties are held at 15H00 in the afternoon so that it does not break into our structured program in the morning. Unfortunately, parents are not allowed to come into our classes during the Covid – 19 pandemic, so you will not be able to attend the class party. We kindly ask everyone’s co-operation in this regard. Thank you so much.
Parking Area: please consider each other in the parking area. Please park in one parking space and not over two. Please watch your speed in the parking lot. Accidents happen incredibly fast and it does happen that the younger Kabouters pull loose and make a run for it. We also ask that children please be buckled up when driving. We know it’s hard sometimes when they are kicking and screaming, but their safety comes first. Your co-operation with this is much appreciated.
We are very grateful that the positive COVID – 19 cases in the country have decreased to such an extent that we are back at Level 1 of restrictions and this means that we may use the sandpits again. They were all treated with salt and the children are enjoying every moment. The new grass on the Aftercare side is also well utilized, especially now that the weather is getting warmer.
On the Covid note, we would just like to recap on the following COVID rules that we had to put in place when we opened in July 2020.
- No parents may move through the school or enter the classes. The children must please be dropped off and collected at the class door.
- Stuff that is brought for birthday parties must please come in a container or packaging that can be wiped or sprayed off.
- We ask that parents of the Vlinders, Bytjies, Hasies and the Aftercare as well as siblings please use the side doors. It does tend to happen that these doors are closed due to the weather, then alone is entry through the school permitted.
- Entrance to the school premises must please be done through the front gate and exit through the side gates. If the side gates are closed, you can move out through the front gate. If we are not there to open, please ring the bell on the front door.
- We ask that the drop off & pick up process be done as quick as possible and avoid unnecessary chit chats to other staff and parents.
- SICK CHILDREN MUST PLEASE BE CARED FOR AT HOME.
- If a family member in your household suspect that he/she may have COVID or is going for a Covid test, Please keep the children at home until you have confirmation that the test result is negative.
We are currently busy with the planning for next year and with that comes the class divisions. We are currently still working on the class divisions. There have been parents who have asked in which class their child is going to be in next year or assume their child is going to be in a certain teacher’s class. Nothing is finalized yet and the final class lists will be discussed with the class teachers before being passed on to you in the December Progress Report. Please note that there are several factors that play a role in the placing of a child / children in a specific class and that these decisions are not ones that we take lightly. We ask that you trust us with the decisions that we make.
The forth term kicks off on a high note with one of our most popular themes, Children of the World. The teachers are hard at work planning for and coming up with new and creative ideas to make this theme fun. Keep an eye on the Whatsapp groups for more information regarding this. Santa will also be making his appearance later in the year. We also have several children who are moving on to “Big School” next year. More information about a special occasion for them will be passed on at a later stage.
Kabouterland closes this year on 22 December at 17H00 and opens again on Tuesday, 11 January 2022 at 07H00
On the 4th of September, Aunty Shannon from the Skilpadjie class welcomed a beautiful little boy, Carter. We wish Shannon and Clyde all the best with their new baby.
We are in regular contact with Aunty Karin. She has completed her first round of chemotherapy and takes each day as it comes. She is always in our thoughts and wish her all the best on this road ahead.
We hope everyone enjoys the short break before the last busy term.
Greetings from the Kabouter Office
Liewe ouers,
Baie dankie.
Gordel groot asseblief jul kinders vas wanneer julle ry.
